If you just so happened to browse the German Specialized website you may have noticed new fat bikes added to the 2016 Specialized line-up. A much anticipated carbon FatBoy fat bike and a new women specific design (WSD) fat bike called the Helga.
Specialized made quite the name for themselves in the fat bike community by introducing the Fat Boy. Though the $6,000 Fat Boy SL did not leave the best taste in the mouth of the community as it only came in aluminum. Enter the S-Works FatBoy. The leaked Specialized S-Works FatBoy comes in carbon with HED’s Big Deal carbon wheels and SRAM’s XX1 drivetrain.
It’s wasn’t stated on how much the S-Works FatBoy weighs, but with a carbon fork, frame and wheels it’s safe to assume it’s in the 25lb range. The S-Works FatBoy wasn’t the only fat bike to be leaked; there is also a new WSD fat bike dubbed the Helga.
The Specialized Helga fat bike has a lower top tube for greater stand over clearance and a more compact geometry that is expected from a WSD bike. The Helga will come in two flavors, the standard and the comp.
Pricing, weight, nor availability were leaked on the Specialized website. The fat bike community will just have to sit back and wait.
